STEMke Career Day
Saturday, May 20, 2017
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Discovery World Museum
Join the Department of Public Works (DPW) and our City colleagues as we host the first STEMke Career Day, designed to share information about what it takes to work for the City of Milwaukee in some of our most interesting and challenging careers.
What is STEM?
S - Science
T - Technology
E - Engineering
M - Math
Staff members from DPW's Foresty, Water Works, and Sanitation divisions will be on hand to talk to you about their important work, and answer your questions on how to qualify for that perfect job with the City. Other participating City departments include Employee Relations, the Milwaukee Health Department, Milwaukee Fire and Milwaukee Police departments, Neighborhood Services, ECO (Environmental Collaboration Office), and the Milwaukee Public Library.
Looking for educational and training opportunities? The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), and Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) will be there to provide information on collegiate and vocational programs.
Many hands-on activities for the whole family!
  • See and feel DPW trucks and equipment up close and personal
  • See "living water" under a microscope
  • Plant a seedling
  • Play "Recycling Basketball"
  • Tour the Trident, the Milwaukee Fire Department fire boat
  • See the STEM Forward "Rube Goldberg" competition winners
The STEMke event is FREE and open to the public. For more information, please see the attached flyer or go to the DPW website at www.city.milwaukee.gov/mpw
Note: If you wish to visit the many wonderful Discovery World exhibits and experiences, there is an admissions charge to the museum. More information on their website: www.discoveryworld.org
